Blessings on the Prophet ﷺ

Allah commands the believers to send blessings on the Prophet ﷺ, and the Prophet ﷺ said that whoever sends one blessing on him receives ten from Allah (Sahih Muslim). When his companions asked how, he taught them the words below.

Lo! Allah and His angels shower blessings on the Prophet. O ye who believe! Ask blessings on him and salute him with a worthy salutation.

O Allah, send Your blessings on Muhammad and on the family of Muhammad, as You sent blessings on Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim; You are Praiseworthy, Glorious. O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad with abundance, as You blessed Ibrahim and the family of Ibrahim; You are Praiseworthy, Glorious.

Taught by the Prophet ﷺ to Ka'b ibn 'Ujrah and others. It is recited in the final sitting of the prayer and at any other time. Shorter forms such as “Allahumma salli 'ala Muhammadin wa 'ala ali Muhammad” are taken from its opening words.

O Allah, send Your blessings on Muhammad, his wives and his descendants, as You sent blessings on the family of Ibrahim. And bless Muhammad, his wives and his descendants with abundance, as You blessed the family of Ibrahim; You are Praiseworthy, Glorious.
