Frequently asked questions
أسئلة شائعة
Short answers about the library, how it is written and who it is for.
Who writes the articles?
Our guides are written to be clear and introductory. They draw on the Quran and widely accepted teachings, and they note where schools of thought differ.
Is Muslim Ummah connected to a particular school or organisation?
No. We focus on what Muslims broadly share, and when a topic has well-known differences between schools we say so rather than taking sides.
Is everything free?
Yes. Every guide is free to read, with no adverts and no sign-up.
Which Quran translation do you quote?
Verses are shown in Arabic with the English translation by Marmaduke Pickthall (1930), which is in the public domain. Translations are aids to understanding; the Arabic remains the reference.
I'm not Muslim. Is this site for me?
Absolutely. The Start Here path is written for anyone curious about Islam, whatever their background.
