About Muslim Ummah
A quiet, welcoming place to learn
عن الموقع
A small library with a simple promise: clear guides to Islamic knowledge, free for everyone, written with care.
Our purpose
Muslim Ummah is a free, ad-free library of clear guides for anyone who is curious about Islam. Some readers were raised Muslim and want to understand their faith more deeply. Some are exploring it for the first time. Others simply want to understand a friend, a neighbour or a colleague a little better.
Whoever you are, the aim is the same: to give you an honest, readable starting point, one short guide at a time, so that you can learn at your own pace and come away with a clearer picture than you had before.
How we write
Every guide on this site is original writing. We try to say things plainly, explain unfamiliar words when they first appear, and keep each guide focused on a single question.
- Plain language first. If a technical term is needed, we explain it.
- The Quran is quoted in the original Arabic, alongside the English translation by Marmaduke Pickthall (1930), which is in the public domain. A translation is an aid to understanding; the Arabic remains the reference.
- We stay with what Muslims broadly share. Where Sunni and Shi'a Muslims, or the schools of law, differ on a point, we say so openly and describe the views fairly.
- No sectarian polemics. The library is a place to learn, not to argue or to score points against other Muslims.
Why it is free
Knowledge is meant to be shared. We would rather a reader finish a guide with a question answered than with an advert in their way, so every page is free to read, with no adverts, no paywall and no sign-up.
Keeping the library simple also keeps it calm. You can arrive, read what you came for, follow a link to the next guide, and leave whenever you like.
