Duas & adhkar
أدعية للوالدين والأهل
The Quran teaches us to pray for our parents by name and to ask for families that bring comfort and lead to good. All four duas here are from the Quran.
وَقُل رَّبِّ ٱرْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِى صَغِيرًۭا
Wa qul rabbir-hamhuma kama rabbayani saghira
Say: My Lord! Have mercy on them both as they did care for me when I was little.
The verse begins by telling us to lower to our parents the wing of humility out of mercy, and then to pray these words for them.
رَبَّنَا ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَلِوَٰلِدَىَّ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ ٱلْحِسَابُ
Rabbanagh-fir li wa li walidayya wa lil-mu'minina yawma yaqumul-hisab
Our Lord! Forgive me and my parents and believers on the day when the account is cast.
The prayer of Ibrahim (Abraham), for himself, his parents and all believers.
رَبَّنَا هَبْ لَنَا مِنْ أَزْوَٰجِنَا وَذُرِّيَّٰتِنَا قُرَّةَ أَعْيُنٍۢ وَٱجْعَلْنَا لِلْمُتَّقِينَ إِمَامًا
Rabbana hab lana min azwajina wa dhurriyyatina qurrata a'yunin waj'alna lil-muttaqina imama
Our Lord! Vouchsafe us comfort of our wives and of our offspring, and make us patterns for (all) those who ward off (evil).
رَبِّ هَبْ لِى مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ
Rabbi hab li minas-salihin
My Lord! Vouchsafe me of the righteous.
The prayer of Ibrahim for a righteous child, answered with the birth of Isma'il.
